A large crowd turned out for the Lakeville Public Safety Foundation’s first annual Police and Firefighters Ball on Sept. 11 at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club. Lakeville Mayor Matt Little said 248 tickets were sold for the event, held to honor local police and firefighters for their service. The Foundation presented awards to Lakeville Police Officer of the Year Russ Helmueller and Lakeville Firefighter of the Year Walter Branz during the event. Lakeville Fire Chief Mike Meyer said the total amount raised through the silent auction and event will be announced at a later date. Lakeville City Council Member Doug Anderson said the evening set a high bar for event in the future. “I think our public safety folks felt honored,” he said. (Photo by Tricia Riggin Photography)
